This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies the Backstage Media website uses. The data controller is Aleksey Borovikov, who runs Backstage Media. Questions go to [email protected].
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work, others help count visits or show ads. Similar technologies, such as local storage, keep data in the browser in a different way.
Cookies the site sets itself
None. The site does not need cookies for the pages, the menu, the forms or the quiz to work.
To remember your answer in the cookie banner, the site keeps one entry in your browser’s local storage: “accepted” or “declined”. It is not sent anywhere and contains nothing about you.
Analytics cookies, only with your consent
If you click “Accept” in the cookie banner, two analytics services load. If you click “Decline” or ignore the banner, they do not load and set nothing.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Tells one visitor from another with a random identifier | 2 years |
_ga_<ID> | Google Analytics 4 | Keeps the state of the current session | 2 years |
_clck | Microsoft Clarity | Keeps a random Clarity user identifier and settings | 1 year |
_clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Joins the page views of one visit into one session | 1 day |
CLID | Microsoft Clarity | Recognizes a returning visitor across Clarity sites | 1 year |
MUID | Microsoft | Identifies a browser for Microsoft services | 1 year |
Google Analytics 4 counts visits, pages viewed, traffic sources, device and browser type and approximate location. Microsoft Clarity records clicks, scrolling and how pages are viewed, so we can see where visitors get stuck. We use this only to improve the site and do not use it to identify you.
Both companies handle this data under their own terms: the Google privacy policy and the Microsoft privacy statement. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics on every site.
Security on the forms
The forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks technical data from your browser to tell people from bots. It runs only to protect the forms and is not used for advertising or tracking. Cloudflare, which serves the site, may also set a strictly necessary security cookie to filter automated traffic. Such cookies do not need consent because the protection cannot work without them.
How to change your choice
- Click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page and choose again.
- Delete cookies and site data for this site in your browser settings: the banner will appear again on your next visit.
- Block cookies in your browser altogether. The site keeps working.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when the services on the site change. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. How we handle the data from the forms is described in the privacy policy.
